The practice for the universal loving kindness meditation exercise, I didn’t like. It was kind of hard to get focused and relaxed. Plus, no music or voice to go with it! They were both a big reason why I was very much into the track meditation. So I became a bit frustrated and can promise not to do it again. The assessment was another disappointment to me. I don’t have a photographic memory and can’t focus on an area and follow instructions without having to read the assessment over and over again. So there is no way I can get focused and relax during this. I tried and became irritated. The area I tried to focus on for growth and development was not letting my Chrone’s Disease get to me and spend more time with my kids. When I am in pain, I tend to draw away from kids because I don’t want them to see in that condition. I also tried to focus on doing well in school. Some specific exercises that can implement to foster greater wellness in this area, is Yoga.

I agree this was the most challenging exercise we have done thus far and it is not a favorite of mine either. Like you I have no interest in doing this exercise again. I didn't feel like it was having the intended results it should have as I counld not remember what to say or assess. I will stick with meditation, it works for me.
ReplyDeleteDear Healthy Nut,
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about your frustrating experience. I am sure you are a wonderful example to your children of how to handle a chronic disease and the ensuing pain that accompanies Chrone's. I found that I am emotionally immature!! Imagine that! LOL! My boyfriend and I always kid around that I am a three year old especially when I pout! I recently visited my three year old granddaughter and I could totally empathize with her! Her favorite line was "I do it myself!" I guess we are related!! I am very glad that you have found another form of meditation to use that meets your needs as I am finding that it relaxes me deep within my soul. I know that that deep relaxation is very important in Chrone's disease. Have a great day, Nutritionista
I like that we can be completely honest in our blogs. I tend to like this because I can focus. I need to read directions to keep my mind focused (a little ADD) so I have to keep on track. If I listen to something my mind just wonders somewhere else. Very interesting blog. So sorry that you have to deal with Crohn's disease that is such a horrible disease to have. Yoga seems to be a great relaxation technique to help Crohn's. Thanks for sharing. Aud Findings
ReplyDeleteAmy,
ReplyDeleteI can relate to your frustrations, I too tend to have to re-read, I found I could not get into the relaxed state I should have been in. However, I usually repeat to practice compassion when I meditate, so I felt that repeating to gain freedom from suffering for myself and others was the same idea as practicing and showing compassion to all. I think Yoga is a great way to implement greater wellness into life. I guess these exercises can help us see what works and what doesn't.
Thanks for sharing,
Peace,
Nico
